Books with negative-space/void-space(?) entities

So I just saw The Night House movie and the entity in it is quite unique. It materialises through the manipulation of perspective, and appears out of the negative space. I actually don't know if what I just wrote even made sense but it's really cool and unsettling. So I'm just wondering if there's any book featuring such an entity, mainly curious about how or if it could be portrayed to the same creepy effect as in the visual medium.
