Question about donating clothes

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I happen to have so many clothes I don’t use anymore and I thought of donating them. I’m just not sure which place would be trusted to actually give the clothes to the people who would need them. Does anyone have any experience in where to donate clothes that aren’t basically second-hand stores or such?
