I was s^xually assualted by a psych pt today. What happens from here?
I had my genitalia groped by a psych patient today (relapse of BPAD, manic phase). They have had several incident reports this week for violent, physical and verbal aggression. I approached them with another nurse, and kept my distance when attempting to ask for permission to take a manual pulse on them. Within seconds, the patient leaned forward (she was sitting down, I was standing) and they firmly grabbed my genitalia (I'm a young female nurse) and laughed when I immediately pulled away and walked off. At first I took it on the chin and pretended to be okay, for the sake of keeping my coworkers calm and not worrying about me. But it didn't take long for me to break - I've been SA in the past, one resulting in a court case and another being the exact same situation when I was a student on my aged care placement. They sent me home due to me not being able to compose myself, and my co workers were really worried about me. I've done the incident report, but what happens from here? I'm worried this will be a case of "but what could you have done to avoid this situation?" From HR
