Hanging out in nightclubs and crime

Hi, 23M here. My friends go regularly to nightclubs to have a couple drinks, which is a plan I like even tho my social battery is quite limited.

My country is considered safe or relatively safe specially compared with others on Europe, but recently the number of incidents happening in this context has increased a lot in my city (robberies, knife killings, sexual assault...). I've been avoiding more and more hanging out at night due to this, not only cause I feel anxious about getting im danger myself but also cause I feel I wouldn't be able to properly defend my friends in case something happened.

My mentality is one of avoiding fights even if I have to swallow my pride, but not all the people I hang out with think like this and would probably engage in a fight.

What are your thoughts/experiences on this? I don't enjoy hanging out at night anymore cause I'm paranoid and trying to be aware of my surroundings all the time.
