Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, if the condition is good and the seller is reputable. And I wang it to have some kind of longevity too.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Performance is the top priority. Build quality and battery life are important but secondary. I don’t need a 2-in-1 or touchscreen.

How important is weight and thinness to you? Moderately important. I’d like to travel with it, so under 2kg is ideal, but I can compromise a bit if performance is worth it.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Preferably 14–15.6 inches. I'm flexible on that tho, wouldn't mind a slightly bigger screen.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Yes. I'm starting to work on:

Game development (Godot, possibly Unity later)

Music production (Bitwig, Reaper)

Light 3D work (Blender – mostly stylized, not complex rendering) No serious gaming, just dev-focused usage.

I have never been into video editing but I'd like to experiment (at least) too. I have some experience on PS for photo editing.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Not my main concern. If it can run indie games and test Godot projects smoothly, that’s good enough. I like to play to more modern, high performance games every once in a while but I don't mind not running them with the highest performances.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? A good keyboard and trackpad are appreciated. With decent thermals. Linux compatibility is a plus.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm a former med student pivoting toward a creative career. I need a reliable laptop that can support music production, game creation, and a bit of visual work while remaining portable enough for possible relocations. I'm not interested in Apple products and I prefer Windows or Linux. I also work with a graphic tablet so good compatibility would be nice.

Thanks for your help!
