driving learner permit without SSN

I am new to the United States and currently residing in galveston. I do not yet have a Social Security Number (SSN), and it may take approximately one month to receive it.

In the meantime, I would like to know whether it is possible to take the written knowledge exam for a learner permit without an SSN. When I attempted to fill out the form online, it indicated that an SSN is mandatory.

Could you please advise if there is a way to proceed without an SSN, or whether I must wait until I receive it before scheduling the exam?
