Can I be fired for exam fails with no training contract?

Hi, I’m about to start a new job at a top 10, I don’t have a training contract but they said they will fund my exams after a probation period.

I am planning on just sitting the last 4 exams I have using ACAM whilst in probation otherwise i’ll need to wait to the end of 2026 to qualify or I can just self fund and hopefully qualify in 2025.

The exams will be hard doing BPT and CR without a tutor and no revision time etc but I will give it a go. If the worst happens and I fail them, could I be fired? My contract makes no mention of the ACA exams at all.

However I have seen people who work in industry say they don’t get any study etc and can be fired for failing. Also does anyone know if my hours worked in probation are usable for my PWE?
