Made an Interactive Map Platform for HumanitZ (and Any Game)
While playing HumanitZ, I wanted a good interactive map to help with exploration and locating key points of interest. But all I could find were static maps — which are great, but kinda limited. It made me realize that a lot of interactive map platforms don’t really cater to smaller indie games like HumanitZ.
So I decided to build my own interactive map tool — and what started as a simple personal project turned into a full-fledged platform called Point Atlas.
Here’s what it can do:
- Upload your own map images — static or even animated
- Add custom map icons and draw zones
- Place POIs anywhere with just a left-click
- Set categories for all POIs for easy filtering
- Voting and commenting on maps and POIs
- A clean, intuitive UX for both map creators (owners) and users
- A tip button that sends donations directly to the map owner — and yes, I take zero commission
- No ads, no paywalls — 100% free for everyone
- Customizable colours for POIs and zones
- Each user can create infinite personal pins and track as many found POIs as they want — no paywalls or fake limitations to squeeze money out of people
- Embedding maps on other sites
- Designed for any game or use case — from indie games to DnD campaigns and beyond!
- Soon adding multi-map navigation so users can move up, down, left, right across entire worlds
- Right now it supports Google OAuth login for authentication
Additional features for easier navigation:
- When you mouse over a type (subcategory) in the sidebar, every POI in that subcategory flashes on the map for quick spotting
- When you mouse over individual POIs — either in the sidebar or directly on the map — the corresponding POI flashes along with its label on the map
I’m just a guy who’s been working on this from my living room for the past two weeks, juggling life and everything else. Just a labour of love.
Bonus: I’ve already made a HumanitZ map! It might not be fully up to date, and some POIs or details could be missing, but I figured I’d get the ball rolling. It took me less than an hour to put together, so I’ll leave the fine-tuning and detailed mapping to someone who knows the game better than me.
If anyone wants to contribute or improve it, the platform is ready and waiting!
Check it out here: https://point-atlas.io/map/1
Note: The platform is still in active development, but I believe it’s user-ready and would love your feedback.
Would love to hear what you think and any features you think could make it even better. Also, if you want to help test or contribute maps for HumanitZ (or anything else), hit me up!
Cheers,
Decado
