Navigation preference

I’m torn between using my phone vs using a garmin sat nav while riding. My bmw has this cradle that I’m not to familiar with yet that is ready for BMW’s branded hardware. I feel like I should just get the adaptor and use my phone though. I have zero experience using either so looking for opinions.
