Aliexpress refusing to refund a stolen parcel, despite multiple proofs I never recieved it personally

Issues & Disputes

About a week ago a 'meta parcel' was due to be delivered to me, multiple bits from different orders bundled together somewhere along the line. This parcel once in my country (UK) was shipped with Royal Mail.

The postman, for some unknown reason, decided to put my parcel by a dustbin rather than deliver to a neighbor. I have no 'safeplace' set up specifically as my back garden is overlooked by many flats; anyone and their dog would see a bright red muppet sticking a box under a doormat.

I have had some smaller packets lost/stolen before (as Evri love to use the front doorstep as a 'safe place'!), but first line customer support was always able to sort it out. This time they have not, and the total value of the bits in the parcel was nontrivial, about £50 or so, as it was a collection of different orders.

So after -many- assurances from front line support chat about 'understanding your problem' and 'sure to get your money soon' and my showing them all the 'documentation' I can provide, eg a photo from Royal Fail showing it was by a bin, nothing happened aside from rapid automatic rejections.

Then someone said they would 'escalate' it to a higher team, which sounds nice in theory, I thought a rational human would finally get involved. However this is the email I recieved:

"I am the service specialist to follow up your inquiry on order XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received package.I tracked it and found the package was delivered. Please contact with shipping company to help you find the package.

If you didn't find your package,please ask shipping company to provide offical document to prove your issue.Please make sure the document should be with tracking number , postmark and date on it and it should be original document, not a copy.

Please provide the document in this email within 24 hours.If you didn't reply in time,it is difficult for us to honor your refund request and this case will be closed.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation which is highly appreciated and we hope you have a great experience shopping with AliExpress."

I sent off, once again, the tracking page from royal mail showing the bin (aliexpress might be surprised to learn I am not a bin, despite the rubbish service they provide), and even an email from Royal Mail apologising it was left in an unagreed place resulting in my not recieving it. This is the closest thing royal mail will ever provide to a 'not recieved' notice. I did write a long email explaining everything and how to verify the photo themselves on the RM site, which is probably too long to include here unless needed.

A short while later, another email rejection with what seems to be a boilerplate:

"Please accept our sincerest apologies for the negative experience you had with your recent order [XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX]

Upon review, we found that you were unable to provide proof of non-delivery, or the proof of delivery you provided was invalid. The current shipping status shows as "delivered." As a result, we cannot process the refund for you, and the escalation case is temporarily closed. We suggest you to contact logistics company again. If you obtain new proof of package lost from the logistics company, please feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding."

I'll attach the image of the Royal Mail response, which I also forwarded as an actual email to the address the boilerplate came from.

At this point are Aliexpress actually even trying to understand what's going on? I'm trying very hard to assume good faith but everything seems to be automatic and generic 'no'.

Is there some sort of proof that they actually need that I can sanely provide - I would have thought the existing information more than enough to conclude I never personally received anything?

Thanks in advance.
