Terminals Arrival/Departure

Hello! While I’m not new to flying, I'm unfamiliar with this particular airport, and it's already a bit intimidating. I'll be flying from Hawaii to LAX, then on to Charlotte, NC, and finally to Tampa.

Can anyone tell me which terminal American Airlines uses at LAX for the departure to Charlotte? I've heard that LAX can be quite chaotic at times, so any suggestions for navigating the airport would be greatly appreciated! I know I'll be landing from Hawaii at LAX, and I've heard that some airlines operate out of the same terminal for domestic flights, which can help avoid the need to take a bus or train to another terminal.

If I get turned around, I believe I’ll have enough time to figure things out, as my flight lands at 9:40 PM and departs at 10:44 PM. Is that considered peak time for LAX?
