Super Famicom No Signal

Hello everyone! I'm currently living in Japan and I recently bought a Super Famicom. I bought a power cable from Amazon and an adapter that transforms the "Multi Out" output into HDMI, because my monitor only has HDMI!
But when I turn it on, no matter what I do, there's no signal on my monitor. I've never had one of these, so it'd be great if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong!
