I found a Turtle Plastron

I found a Turtle Plastron on the beach. I thought it was driftwood and brought it home. I'm only 15. Is it illegal to keep in India? Should I discard it? I live near some retd. Forest Officers, will there be any suspicion if it is in their possession??
