Is the RTX 3050 really that bad… or is it just the pricing in the US that makes people hate it?

Discussion

I have ASUS TUF A15 LAPTOP btw

I did some digging online—YouTube reviews, Reddit threads, forums—and I noticed a recurring theme: most of the hate towards the 3050 seems to come from US-based buyers. Their main complaint? The price-to-performance ratio compared to cards like the 3060 or older used GPUs (like the 1660 Super, RX 6600, etc.), which are way cheaper in their used markets.

But in India, the situation looks different. Used GPU markets aren't as trusted or accessible, and from what I saw:

  • The RTX 3050 is often priced close to the RX 6600, sometimes even cheaper.
  • It supports DLSS + ray tracing, which even if not perfect, is something the 6600 lacks.
  • It’s more power efficient and cooler than older NVIDIA cards like the 1660 Ti or 2060.
  • The NVIDIA encoder (NVENC) is also great for people like me who occasionally stream or record gameplay.

So, while I agree it's not a "high-performance beast," when you take into account our Indian market, it kinda feels like the RTX 3050 isn’t actually that bad of a deal… especially if you're building a budget 1080p gaming PC with plans for DLSS support in newer games.

I’m genuinely curious—do you guys think the hate is overblown from an Indian context? Or am I just trying too hard to justify my purchase? 😂
