Can I Put Hardware from a Shower/Tub Combo in a Bath, Substitute a Hand-Held Wand?
I am having difficulty finding hardware I like what I want for a small bathtub. (Shower is separate.) It's being built from the studs out, so I'm not stuck on any particular brand or placement other than "wall mount". Area will have 18" high tile.
Can I purchase a shower/tub combo set and not use the shower head? Instead get a small shower wand, which would be placed about same height as faucets?
A professional would do the work. On some of these combo units, it says the shower head needs to be installed at least 3 feet above the tub faucet. Is that a "thing"? Or will it explicitly say for those that matter?
Some have encouraged me to get a retractable shower wand. But I fear problems down the line, and it would be enclosed in the wall. Any thoughts?
I've also considered the design where shower wand is screwed directly onto the spout, so external instead of in the wall. But I'd need the connection on the RIGHT side (when facing the spout) and don't find any. Or underneath might be okay. But - if I can find one - that seems to mean getting into buying all the pieces separately. Is that a bad idea? Does it make any difference if spout is generic or a different brand?
Thank you for any advice.
