Spraying varnish

When I built my sailing dinghy 6 years ago, I brushed on the varnish. I'm redoing all the bright work and since then, I bought a compressor and I now have a spray gun.

It's a standard pressure feed spray gun. I'm just wondering if that's appropriate for varnish application. Using epiphanes original, and I do have the thinner.

Happy to be talked out of this, but keen to give it a try if anyone has recommendations.
