Was I being love bombed?
I’ve been dating this person for about a month before this happened. In the beginning they were super sweet, attentive, sent me romantic posts that reminded me of them, making promises about us wanting to be together forever etc, etc. and the conversation about being in a relationship, labeling it as such and being “official” was initiated by them. I did not bring up the topic at all. So we started going out officially. But shortly after that, little by little, effort to keep things going on their end dwindled. Not only that, any romantic gesture or comment I made toward them seemed to be ignored completely. They stopped using pet names, stopped sending songs, stopped expressing their feelings and stopped giving affection, such as hugs, kissing, cuddling. They also stopped trying to make plans with me. Soon I became the only one making plans. I was even the only one between us initiating conversations. In the beginning, they’d text me “good morning, how did you sleep” and things along that line but after the first few weeks, they never did that. They even stopped reacting to videos or posts I’d send them. A trivial issue on its own, but coupled with everything else felt very indicative of their lack of interest. At first I’d get a haha react and they’d send stuff back to me but after a while it fell flat. I decided intentionally not to reach out to see if they’d text me at all and so I went 2 full days of radio silence. So I texted them “I deserve better than this. I’m over being treated like I’m just here for your entertainment.” To which I got no reply. I told my friend about this and they said it sounds like I was being love bombed. My theory is that in the initial stages of us dating, it was just a fantasy to them and therefore fun and easy for them to pursue me. But once they realized I’m a real person with my own complex issues, it wasn’t anymore. I’m really starting to think everything they said in the beginning of the relationship was an entire fabrication. They told me what I wanted to hear to get me on the line with no real intention of follow through. What do yall think?
