Custom race bug?

Whenever I try to make a custom race with cars from my garage, some cars default to their stock tires. Is there a way to guarantee that the have the tires I have them equipped with in my garage? It hurts to race against my gt40 with CS rather than the intended rating (among other cars I want to race against).

The happens in particular when I choose sports type, racing type it seems to go better.
