Heart Attacks in Women

A girl I used to know had a heart attack a few months ago, she's 37. Two different A&E units couldn't find anything wrong with her.

She had pain in her left arm and everything. She's now left with serious heart damage because it was left untreated. How did this happen? Does anyone know what they check for when someone's had a heart attack? Could they have missed something or just not tested because it was unlikely for someone her age?
