Can’t buy a phone without a phone

Right after ALL electronic stores closed for the evening, I fell down and broke my phone, and the screen is not responsive anymore. I need a phone Monday morning and it’s urgent, like plane tickets for a month’s leave urgent. However, in our nice, green, belgian corner of the world, stores are closed on Sundays, except a couple of grocery stores until mid-day. No problem, I can buy one online and get it delivered tomorrow. However, after wasting 4h choosing a model, I realised there’s no way to pay for it without A PHONE. Bank cards including Visas require validation through the banking apps, PayPal requires app login validation, Revolut I didn’t think of trying before the shipping deadline (midnight for next day delivery). No problem, I can maybe use the kids phone, just replace the sim card, install PayPal and it’s good to go. However, I forgot that parental control on their phone can only be lifted through MY phone and it was past bedtime 😭. No problem, I can always ask the neighbours if they can lend me a phone for a month. However, I remembered that all those I can ask this of are either off or leaving early tomorrow morning.

At this point I give up. I can’t buy a phone tonight, but I can sure vent and be mildly infuriated. At least here I don’t need app validation!

Fingers crossed that I can find some electronic shops held by people who swap Sunday for Friday or Monday as rest day.
