AITA for buying clothes for myself after fights with my husband?
Every time I have a fight with my husband, I feel this strong urge to buy something for myself online — usually clothes or makeup that make me feel pretty or confident.
It’s not revenge. I’m not trying to punish him or spend money out of spite. It just feels like a way to reclaim something after feeling emotionally torn down. The fights aren’t violent or anything, but sometimes I end up feeling invisible or hurt.
Buying something nice — even if it’s just a new dress or a pair of earrings — gives me a little boost. It’s like reminding myself I’m still worthy and beautiful, even if someone close to me made me feel otherwise.
That said, I know it’s not the healthiest coping strategy, and I don’t always feel great afterward. But it does help in the moment. I don’t go into debt, and I don’t hide it from him, but I know he thinks it’s silly.
So, AITA for using shopping as emotional recovery after arguments?
