glitched item in hotbar

I bought one of those things that lets you favorite plants, and when I ran out of favoriting things (i really dont know how to rephrase that) it stayed in my hotbar. It won't let me sell it, and so far everything i've tried wont make it go away. Its just sitting there useless, taking up inventory space. HELP!
