Forever a Fellowcraft
I am in a special situation that I would like feedback from the brotherhood.
I received my first, second, and third degrees within one day in 2015 within the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. It was a blur, but the brothers told me I was a Master Mason. I lived in Massachusetts for 18 months and then served in the United States Air Force Reserves before living in Alabama, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and settling in Ohio.
Nine years later, in 2024, I attempted to transfer my membership from Massachusetts to Ohio. Lo and behold, the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts had me listed as an Entered Apprentice despite the three degrees completed. The Grand Lodge of Ohio would accept me as a Fellowcraft. I put up no protest and stopped wearing my ring and lapel pen. I kept the car tag.
In October 2024, I completed the second degree again within the Grand Lodge of Ohio. I began learning the ritual. However, I had a job change in December, and my mother passed away in January. I have forgotten a good chunk of the ritual I was able to learn, and I have simply lost the desire to learn any more. Plus, my mentor stopped responding to me.
What happens to me as a forever Fellowcraft? Are Lodges of Fellowcrafts a thing?
Candidly, I'm fine not ever being an officer. I was President of a Fraternity in undergraduate days, so I have had the experience of fraternal governance.
