Question for those who recently rented an apartment in KL or PJ

Property

How much tenancy fee did you pay? I am looking to rent an apartment in Cheras, KL. When I asked the agents about the tenancy fee, 99% of them ignored me. The only one who replied "35% of the rent EXCLUDING stamp duty". When I asked, "which law firm is preparing the tenancy agreement (TA)?"

That agent stopped replying after that question.

Those who had paid such a high fee or plan to rent an apartment in the near future, what are your thoughts?

  1. Just pay lah if you really like the apartment. >90% of realtors in KL/PJ/Malaysia are like that. Don't like to pay inflated TA fee, buy your own condo.

Or

  1. No, this is NOT normal, I will not pay this inflated fake fee, a TA prepared by the agent using a standard template instead of a real law firm shouldn't cost more than RM100, like a tip for the agent. I will file a complaint with BOVAEP (Board of Valuers & Estate Agents).

Or

  1. ???
