For people who CANNOT wake themselves up
I wanted to pass on this advice but i'm not sure how to do it without sounding controversial. I think for me personally because I am unmedicated my body just runs at a very basic level with only the fundamental background programs in place. E.g the only thing that really keeps me awake at all normally is adrenaline-e.g being stressed about work or I only manage to wake up out of fear of being late for work etc.
I often really struggle to wake myself up (especially on weekends) and because I live alone its hard to come up with ways to do that. I was staying with a friend who has a baby and realised I was 100% certain I would hear the baby if it cried so I had an idea. Not sure if this is specific to age and gender but the ONLY thing that reliably wakes me up is the sound of a baby crying. Just this afternoon I had been in bed all day and was really struggling to get out when a baby/ toddler (?) started screaming in the upstairs apartment. I am now up and as lucid/ awake as I ever am these days. If you are really struggling to wake up and desperate (I have been there and willing to try anything!) you could consider this....
