OHMSS and NTTD feel like “What If” stories…

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I feel it’s time to talk about it. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and No Time to Die both feel like unique, experimental stories that ask a significant question.

For OHMSS: what if Bond got married? A story that explores Bond finding love and seeing the changes & arc that comes with it.

For NTTD: what if Bond died? A story that explores Bond’s demise on a mission, the people he did it for and their reactions to it.

Both these movies have great emotional significance, explore unique ideas and end on powerful notes. Is this strong parallel what the creators of NTTD had in mind? Does anyone else feel this way? I’d love to hear your thoughts…
