In this hospital, they come around with a big card at breakfast and dinner time and you can choose whatever you want. When I was admitted, the cart was in front of the room I'd be staying in, coincidentally. I brought my own bread and a roll I had left over at home, because hospital bread is usually stale. I asked for a slice of all the 4 kinds of cheese they had, 3 things of butter (I saved 2 for later), chopped tomato & cucumber (decided against dressing), banana, peppermint tea and the standard pitcher of water. I only managed to eat the roll with butter and cheese and the veggies. 7/10 for that

I also got a box with soap, shower gel, shampoo, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, tissues, nail file and comb (hidden under the other things) and shitty headphones to use with the small TV mounted on the bedside table. I brought my products and headphones, but it's nice that they provide those. I'm pretty sure it's an exclusive thing for people with private health insurance, though.

I had my last surgery on June 18th, but my body doesn't know how to stop breaking 🙃 This time it's an umbilical hernia. I spent all of Thursday in the ER, 4 hours on Friday in surgery prep and I'll have surgery at 6 am tomorrow. At least I won't have to wait around, they'll wake me half an hour before I'll get picked up.
