Hello, How is the cost of living and income in Australia?

I want to go to Australia with the work and holiday Visa, I was hoping to save some money in there.

How is the cost of living compared to income in Australia? I can work in catering or similar jobs, let's say not the best but I am willing to live in shared houses and cut a bit my expenses
