(optional) centerstand vs external lift stand

Kitting out my new Triumph and wondering what the consensus is here. Looks like a basic lift stand is cheaper and universal (could move to another bike), but the centerstand would be useful if I ever needed to do a chain adjustment on the road? Is that the long and short of it? Any real world input?
