Really want to better understand Activity Score and find the right balance - a bit frustrated.

Hello! I have seen other posts about this, but I still really do not understand so if someone has advice or can explain it that would be so helpful.

Me and my 2 best girlfriends all have rings, one tracks her activity by steps, the other by cal burn. Both of them are able to reach 99 activity score for days in a row, sometimes all week.

I understand it takes into account a lot of different metrics, however I feel stuck in a loop that if I reach my goal (I do steps) I get "optimal" for reaching daily goals, but then a few days after my "recovery" goes down because I am reaching my goal everyday and I never find the perfect balance. I get stuck in a sitiation where I cant both meet my daily goals everyday, and meeting the recovery goals the ring wants me to have. Why does it not adjust based on where I am at and just tell me what to do and not ask for contraditcing things - reach your goal AND rest and recover? How??

I like hitting my step goal everyday, but if I do, my recovery is affected (im not talking high heart rate walking everyday, some days I make sure I take it super slow to keep my heart rate in zone 2).

Today my bestie has sleep and rediness scores in the low 70s and a 99 activity, I have sleep and rediness in the high 80s/90s and activity is 89. I get it, it's still optimal and I should have better things to worry about, but I really would love to hit a 99 and it's just frustrating me a bit.

I wonder if I need to not just hit my step goals daily, but decently exceed them, so that on recovery days I can still meet my daily goal, but it's considered recovery because it's lower than my daily average, which would be greater than my goal?

If you have ideas, please help!
