New to trucks

I've been exclusively Subarus for over a decade and am looking at my first ever truck. I've looked at the Ranger and the Colorado, and I'm pretty sure I am leaning heavily to the Chevy right now. Nothing fancy, just an LT with a tow package. I'm not really a truck person so I don't have a full grasp on the material benefit of other variants like the Z71 since it doesn't increase power or anything, which is what I always thought the Z series did. Anyways, I'd appreciate any insights, recommendations, or ideas if you have them.
