I'm worried about retaliation from my employer
Location: can't say. I work for a company that has a contract with one of the top tech companies, I'm sure you can figure out what one of you try. So in the last year we avhe had major lay offs. Huge changes in the way they track call outs and late punches. It's now a point based system. I've been with this company for over 3 years. And I've climbed up in the ranks in that time to get just before management roles . I've never been one to call out or be late, unless it was legit reasons. I always come back with a note. If I'm sick, I go to the Dr.. The point system, I was told, was to flag the ones that abused call outs and tardiness. After 25 points they will talk to you, if they like you then it's a warning, if they don't, your on your way out . That's basically what I've been told by many of the upper management. Well I hurt my self on a Saturday. Went to the e.r. on Monday. Got a note for the week because I couldn't walk. I busted my knee. Work said they needed me to file for FMLA. It's due on the 14th. My follow up is on the 15th. If I don't have FMLA by the 14th, I will not have my points erased and I'll be on my final warning. Mind you, I've done nothing but busy my ass for this company. Opening the newest building 12-14 hour days. Leading the team of 3 when it should of been 7. Just absolutely killing it. Then my boss decided I was done, pushed me out. Fed the hr people lies. Just all around made me hate my job. At the same time it was brought to my attention that a core group was in the process of unionizing, and if I wanted to help. Do I want a better life? Absolutely I do. So I joined em. Work caught wind of this. And I believe it's why they are pushing me to file for FMLA. It's why they maxed my points with 0 care for my injury. I'm just tryna figure out when doctors notes weren't accepted.. can they set a deadline for FMLA before my follow up?
It sucks, before the lay offs. I loved working for this company but when my workload increased 10 fold and I was told I'm at cap pay, but let's keep increasing the work load, I started losing respect. After I realized I was pushed out of the building I opened andoved, I went higher up and I was silenced. When insurance barely helped any of my injuries, I was angry. Of course I wanna union. It's against the tech company not my employer. But retaliation is real. A manager in another building even said to a coworker they looking for any reason to fire. What can I do. All other jobs I. This field pay less. By a considerable amount. Please help. I know it's a rant. But the questions I have are there.
