my boyfriend keeps triggering my ed, how can I deal with this?
My (24m) and my bf (27m) live together and have been together for some time now. He met me when I was doing bad mentally and struggled with an eating disorder (bulimia). I was slim but not to the extent of where my bones were showing. It's a triggering topic for me so I never told him about my ed. He got suspicious how I would feel sick consistently after eating together, but he was none the wiser. I would also wear baggy dark clothes. By then I was about 115lbs at 5'9.
However, after being together I began doing therapy and started working on my mental health. I was severely bullied throughout school for my weight. I felt ashamed of my body and desperately wanted to be skinny, among other trauma sources. So it was a hard habit to break. I became happier over time with him and began eating again and gradually gained (what my therapist called "happy weight"). Since November of last year I've managed to add about seventy pounds.
It felt uncomfortable not being very slim anymore, but at the beginning my bf said he loved how my body was 'filling out'. That boosted my confidence for a while. But recently I'm not sure.
He has begun making off handed comments about my body. He's also began watching tiktoks of guys with conventionally attractive bodies comparing them with my size. Along with poking my stomach and making jokes whenever I want to go eat something.
Im beginning to feel like he isn't attracted to my body anymore. He's also been initiating intimacy less now. It's making me crave my former body size and it's triggering my ed whenever he's around now. We live together so it's not like I can avoid him and he's very bold about making me feel fat now. Even the thought of food is making me sick now. I don't know what to do anymore at this point.
