Not having hobbies or interests = depression?
Apparently in order to make friends and be a sociable person that people want to talk to, I need to have a range of shared hobbies and interests. If I don't have them, it means I must be depressed. Is this true?
Here are some of the most common interests:
- Drinking: I don't drink because I don't find that fun and don't want to damage my liver. I can't name various beverages.
- TV shows: I stopped watching TV shows at least since 2010. I have never used any streaming service. I don't see much point in watching TV shows.
- Music: I stopped listening to pop music for over a decade. I don't like most of the songs. There are just a few songs I play regularly. I often listen to non-Western music.
- Video games: I used to play some MMORPGs and stopped since around 2010. I see how video games can be fun, but I just never got into it. Never had a console besides PS1 and a Nintendo 3DS.
- Books: Never got into books.
- Gym: I rarely go to the gym. It's more of a laziness thing.
- Nature/outdoors: Eats up a lot of time during the day and I don't have a car.
My only hobbies are anime on occasion, watching various YT videos, and playing some chess. My day consists of work until like 7-8pm, sometimes I will go to the supermarket to pick up groceries. Then I will make dinner and watch some anime while having dinner.
Does this sound like depression? It's not like I dislike most of the above activities, I just don't have the time for most of them and never got into them.
