Some suggestions for devs
Absolutely adore the game so far, but there are a couple things that would keep me interested a whole lot longer.
- Inventory needs a lot of work. This is the biggest reason I wish this game could be easily modded.
- Backpack/storage device limit should be based on stacks or total volume, not whichever you hit first. This limitation makes no sense thematically or practically. If the argument is "it keeps inventories simplified" then the rest of the crafting system shouldn't be some complicated.
- Something needs to be done for auto-organizing equipables. This could take several acceptable forms, but the most lazy improvement that could be done would be adding a "type" option in sorting that would make my stuff go in a utility-garment-weapon-ammo-consumable-resource order. Best would be if there were a clear delineation between these things, either on different pages or different boxes on the same page. I would also like to see a function where if I click on something I have equipped, It highlights all the things that could go there instead.
- The pile of devices has got to go. My least favorite part of the game is that when I walk up to a mineable rock, want to bleed a corpse, harvest spice, put away my vehicle, fix it, build stuff, heal, or even drink water, I have to open the inventory and switch stuff. There needs to be a page in the inventory where we can equip these things, but then pressing use or secondary use (no matter what item my avatar is holding) accomplishes the appropriate thing with the appropriate animation without requiring switching to the item. As for healing and drinking, there's already a stillsuit hotkey, just add the rest of the water storage to the same thing.

There needs to be an actual fast-travel option. I do appreciate being forced into driving or flying around the world to some extent, but making runs out of my bases over the same terrain gets pretty dull. I'm not asking for carte blanche, but meet me halfway here. I recommend taking a look at the Fallout 76 method- there is a cost to fast travel, and you can only go to bases and landmarks. Willing to pay 0.5 Solaris/meter? Cool- you wait 20 seconds for a taxi ornithopter pickup (and subsequent fast-travel; not just a ride). If there are baddies shooting at her when she's trying to land, she takes your money and splits.

the hardware to software optimization needs a big run-through. I have a pretty fancy PC, and sometimes get BRUTALLY lagged down by illumination or sand, even on low or auto. I've improved things a little by fooling around with my Nvidia control panel, but sometimes the game approaches unplayability, and all of my friends have the same complaint.
Overall VERY well done! I'm excited to see what happens as the game gets finished over the next couple years!
