Hornwort made my tanks smell

I bought some hornwort put it in a few of my tanks, realized it had an odd earthy smell but brushed it off. put it in all of my tanks. now, even after being thrown away, allll of my tanks have an earthy algea smell. its either the pest snails that came on the hornwort or the hornwort itself, it doesnt come out of the tank, just can smell it when im trimming plants and such.

id say its from the bladder snails perhaps because a newly setup tank had bladder snails i put in it but no hornwort and that smell is now in it, but that tank is also having an algea bloom.

Any tips on stopping this smell? id say its from the algea or bladder snails. its not a huge deal because the smell stays in the tank, just a little aggitating because now all of my tanks have algea everywhere thats hard to clean.
