Unpopular opinion: Scully’s arc is even more tragic than Mulder’s
I know Mulder gets a lot of sympathy, but every time I rewatch the show, I can’t help thinking Scully’s story is way more heartbreaking.
She gets abducted, experimented on, gets cancer, loses her daughter, and basically has to question everything she’s ever believed in. All while staying loyal to Mulder, even when he bails or keeps her in the dark.
She gives up so much man, her career, her family, her stability only for a quest that was never really hers to begin with. And in the end, what does she get? A lifetime of trauma and very few answers.
I don’t know, man. It just hits harder the older I get. Anyone else feel this way?
