Power Slide = Spin?

First of all, I want to say that I effing love this game and have played it pretty much exclusively for months. I play in VR and use a T300RS GT with the TLCM load cell pedals.

Now, one thing that really annoys me is that I struggle to control power slides. Some cars are more forgiving than others, but on some of them (American brands are the worst for it), I feel that even the slightest lost of grip inevitably results in me spinning out.

I'm not a pro, or even that good at the game, but I do have real driving experience and feel like this bit of GT7 isn't very realistic. I mean, although my wheel is not top notch, I can feel the loss of traction just fine, but no matter how much counter steering and throttle control I attempt, it's like my fate is already signed... Some times, if I manage to counter steer and there's enough grip, it just ends spinning the opposite way in a whiplash motion. The only times I'm able to recover are when I'm lucky and I slide just in the right spot in line with a bend, and then the car kind of resumes it's normal forward motion .

I haven't played the game with the dualshock, but I think it probably is a lot more manageable with it simply because you can do larger steering inputs so much faster (but not very realistic).

Is this just lack of skills or is the game a bit flawed in this sense?! It's really annoying for me because I tend to stay away from a lot of fun cars because it gets really frustrating...
