Tips on dealing with cyborg zombies?

I know they're basic enemies, but I almost always die when facing them. This is mostly to them overwhelming me. They outrun me, their attacks slow my movement and reload and they keep coming when I kill them. I try climbing stuff, but that doesn't always work - more come and I still only have medium rigs, so not enough ammo unless I don't loot at all.
