Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy recovery so far!

Hi!!, after reading everyone’s recovery stories days and weeks before my surgery I thought to update you guys on my aftermath(F22).

Day 1: Operation day pain: 3/10 after my surgery I was pretty much just giggling and complaining that I was sleepy and hungry since I work 10pm-7am and my surgery was at 7:45. Swallowing wasn’t that much of an issue especially eating my soup from Panera bread and my outside bar popsicle. I was able to talk but I didn’t sound like my regular self so I kind of just stopped talking for that day. They had me on celecoxib but knowing me I didn’t take it I was only taking Tylenol (500mg) and I also saw these NyQuil pain relievers for day and night time liquid.

Day 2 pain: 4/10 I could barely swallow water, and it look me over an hour to eat not even a 5th of instant mashed potatoes. I also couldn’t really talk for. My uvula was huge but it didn’t really bother me. Only thing that bothered me was waking up and my mouth was dry.

Day 3 pain: 4/10 around 9 am my ears were hurting really bad and I could barely drink my water so that’s when I had to actually take my medicine that they prescribed me which was the celecoxib I took that with applesauce and went back to bed. I woke up around 1 and felt so much better and didn’t have any difficulties the rest of the day. I was still eating soup though I didn’t want to push my luck. Around 9 pm my ears started hurting again so that’s when I took another one of my medication and off to bed I went. Also I can’t really open my mouth to see how big my uvula is I also kinda don’t wanna know…

Day 4 pain: 5/10 I woke up with more ear pain and had to take my medicine and went back to sleep and woke up feeling better. Around the late evening my ears started hurting again so I took 1000mg of Tylenol and was able to talk without anything hurting. I also ended up being able to eat potato salad, deviled eggs, and watermelon since it was the 4th of July and I’ve never been better to eat food other than instant potatoes and applesauce.

Day 5 pain: 7/10 my scabs are dissolving in a way and my mouth is on fire luckily no bleeding but omg it’s painful and my medicine isn’t working like I want it too but I did find that laying down on my side helps my mouth and ears from hurting which is weird. I tried eating ramen noodles and I couldn’t even finish it bc everything I swallow i would have this horrible pain in my head and ears so I gave up after 5 bites.

Side note it seems that my scabs are almost gone which I’m happy about, but I’m hungry asf!!
