SOTM, david's death

Do we for sure know how david died? I mean, I've seen a lot of things saying that he was hit by a car while chasing a ball. But my speculation is that maybe william afton killed david, now this could be that he was the driver. But i definitely think it was on purpose. Afton could have done it trying to get edwin into a weak place. And this could have led to the ultimate selling of the springtrap tech and other stuff. I feel Fazbear entertainment was pressuring Edwin to sell the m1, etc and maybe this was an attempt to get Edwin into a weakened state of mind, which would lead him to sell. Afton is not opposed to killing kids to get what he wants.
