Doing ok financially age 29, frugal lifestyle has paid off
Totally new to reddit. My partner and I, both 29, have saved £150k over 5 years. Saving approx £3k a month over that time period. Savings are non-negotiable every month into high interest easy access Saving accounts. We have recently put down £110k deposit for our dream home in the countryside, sale agreed at £175k. After solicitor fees, leaves us with £36k as a buffer/cushion. Mortgage is £360 a month for 25 years, plan to is to overpay and have it gone in 6 or 7 years. We've worked hard to be where we are. We've had no handouts whatsoever. We've still been able to holiday twice a year. It is possible to save and enjoy your life. We have never chased new cars or flashy things, which I believe it part of the reason we are in the position we are in.
