Maltese, how do you feel about tourism?

From what I read tourism is a big % of the country GDP so do you embrace it or is it a problem? I am here currently (granted, in St Jullian which is very touristic) and see a lot of flats and I am wondering if this is all for tourists and where locals live. Do you have a housing problem? The food prices are not that cheap but does this means local people working on tourism industry make an okay salary or not really?

And finally: why do you like rabbit so much?
