Finding beginner’s experience..

Hi all,

Not sure whether this is the most appropriate place for this question..

Have no experience around motor repairs at all.. but wanting to pick up a project that would allow me to gain some experience and understanding.

Would anyone have any ideas?

Any books that are useful to a beginner, or what project I could take up, etc.

I considered buying a project bike - something small - and just slowly try repairing it and learning along the way..

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
