i have a topic to discuss and i welcome points of view

Recently my best friend mentioned that a couple years ago, she found out that she is transsexual. For a while, she continued with this and felt the minimum amount of support from the people around her, but the more time passed, less support was felt — extremely precarious from her parents. Her choice was to stop transitioning because she was afraid of losing her home and a place to sleep, she was afraid that her parents would kick her out of the house, as they declared no support from them even without knowing that their daughter was transgender. Some friends did not support/accept her choice and saw it as disrespectful to the community — specifically because she continued to dress "like a man" and maintain a masculine appearance as if transitioning was something taken as a joke from her part. What do you all think about this?
