When learning a language by immersion, am I supposed to learn by context or by stopping and checking?

Let’s say I watch a TV show in “Algebirrish”
The conversation says.
“XYZ, ZYX AXZC?”
“X? ZZY, XXX!”

The only word I know is ZYX.

Should I be pausing and googling each word?
(Time consuming)

Should I just wait for it to recur and guess by context?
(Could be incorrect, and requires good memory)

Should I write down the word, and wait till later to google it?
(Probably too many words to have to look it up every time.)
