The Rise of Economics in Finance Research

I am not sure if I am right here. I am a PhD student in Finance and recently came across the notion, that all I do is actually (financial) economics. To assess this feeling quantitatively I looked at data and wrote a small blog entry about the topic change. TLDR I guess we are all just economists now?
