when is it ok to consider someone new after a failed match?

Seeking Advice

Hi all,

Just looking for some outside perspective here. I recently ended a 6-month relationship. It wasn’t toxic or traumatic—just a mutual realization that things weren’t working long-term. There were definitely feelings involved, but no hard feelings, if that makes sense.

It’s been a couple weeks now, and I’ve started to get attention from a new person who seems genuinely interested in me. Part of me is excited, but another part wonders: is it “too soon”? Am I being unfair to myself or to the new person if I explore this too quickly?

I’m not talking about jumping into another relationship immediately, just starting to get to know someone new and see where it goes. But I don’t want to rebound or carry old baggage into something fresh.

How long did it take you to feel ready to talk to someone new after a relationship? Especially one that lasted several months and ended on neutral or good terms?

Appreciate any advice or experiences!
