Incorporating breast feeding, formula, and pumping - any tips for moms who have to go back to work at the 8 week mark?
Currently on maternity leave with my LO at 5 weeks, and doing mainly breastfeeding with supplementation with formula (night feeds, some top off during the day). He overall gets about 8 oz formula in a 24 hour period so about 1/3 of his milk intake.
I will have to go back to work at 8 weeks and would like to continue combo feeding. I'll be starting a medical fellowship and unfortunately will not get protected time in clinic to pump. I was thinking of the following schedule and wanted to get your thoughts on if this is doable and if anyone has done something similar:
6 am - nursing (takes LO 30+ min to nurse right now - will this get better by 8 wks?)
7 am - head out to work
8 am - formula feeding for LO with nanny
1 pm formula feeding ; I will pump at work during my lunch break
4 pm - formula feeding
6 pm - home and nursing
8 pm - nursing on demand in the evening
9 pm - formula feed to allow baby to sleep longer
Midnight - nursing or formula feed
3 am - formula feed
