I don’t know how to cope with anxiety while dating.

Support

I have been dating someone for about a month and have gone on about 3 dates (we live about 45 minutes to 1 hour from one another). I don’t want to be so anxious while dating anymore. I am so used to moving at a fast pace while dating and I know that’s not good. This guy I’m dating, we agreed to take things slow. I feel like it’s a good idea because in the past, when things moved too fast they didn’t end well.
I have always been anxious, ever since I can remember. And now that I am back dating again, I can feel it be at an all time high. I will say so far I enjoy his company and he seems to be genuine. But I still cannot stop being so anxious around him. Him and I have spoken about my overthinking, anxiety, and such.

He has asked me if there’s anything we can talk about to make me less nervous. I have admitted I’m not used to someone who isn’t constantly on their phone. He’s asked if he has done anything to make me uncomfortable. He has reassured me that he doesn’t think i would cross a line while talking or sharing anything with him. He doesn’t try to push me to speak about or do anything I’m not comfortable with. He expressed he doesn’t want me to have to feel reserved with him. So you can see, he’s pretty reassuring. I just don’t know how to snap out of all this.

I have made progress since I started dating again. I just want to do better. I don’t want to be so fearful of the future that I mess this up unintentionally. I don’t want to be clingy. I don’t want to scare him away. I don’t want to overthink while I wait for a text message from him. I don’t want to keep thinking “what if?” I want to get used to everything.

If anyone has tips to help, please share them. Any mantras, coping mechanisms, anything, please I am open.
